On it.wiki, before the edit:
https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/141583
even the pages with a missing tag "references" were categorized in the Category:Pagine con errori nell'uso delle note (en:Pages with incorrect ref formatting), through MediaWiki:Cite_error.

Now, how can we automatically categorize those pages in order to add manually that tag (and the title of the section) in a second time?

Already done in bug 67700 which will release to MediaWiki.org tomorrow (17 July) and to Wikipedias a week later (24 July).
