Description Casey Brown 2011-05-20 22:27:26 UTC
Please close the wiki for Wikimania 2009 in Buenos Aires. Wikimania 2009 is long since over and the wiki is no longer needed. Local team has okayed this.
Comment 1 Brion Vibber 2011-05-23 20:39:46 UTC
Closing the wiki sounds... really wrong -- there's a lot of talks, posted slides, discussion, and information about the planning which should be preserved.

Do you mean locking it from further editing?
Comment 2 Casey Brown 2011-05-23 20:54:35 UTC
Yes, by "close" I mean add it to "closed.dblist". The wiki should not be removed or deleted, you are right that that would just be a Bad Idea. :-)

We definitely used to have all of the other old wikis closed as well... but it doesn't look like they are. Did someone reopen them?

Hmmm, actually, looking more into this, it looks like we used to say they were "locked" but what we really did was disable account creation and editing by anonymous users. (bug 11329, bug 16874) We should probably expand this bug to closing all of the other wikis for real too.
Comment 3 Chad H. 2011-05-25 14:48:31 UTC
Went ahead and closed wikimania2009.

Can you get a list of the wikimania200x wikis that need adding to closed.dblist and removed from InitialiseSettings (groupOverrides)? Thanks.
Comment 4 Chad H. 2011-05-25 14:59:08 UTC
Fixed 2005 and 2008 :)
Comment 5 Casey Brown 2011-05-25 19:37:55 UTC
Thanks, Chad!

wikimania2006 and wikimania2007 are even older than wikimania2009, so we should probably close those too. wikimania2010 *should* be closeable -- it hasn't really been edited in a while and Marcin didn't e-mail me back when I asked him if we should close it.
Comment 6 TeleComNasSprVen 2011-05-26 19:43:39 UTC
Changed summary in header to reflect scope of the ticket.
Comment 7 Chad H. 2011-05-26 19:54:51 UTC
2008 and 2009 are already fixed, tweaking summary again ;-)
Comment 8 Chad H. 2011-05-27 22:21:54 UTC
Ok, all past wikimania wikis (2005-2010) are in closed.dblist and have been removed from groupOverrides.

Ideally, though, some time we'll have the Wikimania videos and we'll need to add them to wm2010 pages.

Stewards can still edit closed wikis ;)

Yes; we'll assign temporary steward rights to such WikiGnomes, then. :-p
Comment 12 p858snake 2011-05-28 09:06:06 UTC
or just ask the stewards to do the edits
