Description Itayb 2007-04-14 08:56:44 UTC
For any article and any search string, i'd like to be able to search for the
first/last revision of the article containing the search string. I'd like to be
able to indicate the range of revisions that should be search (i.e. no sooner
than the revision as of XXX, and no later than the revision as of YYY).

How is this feature useful? Examples:
=====================================

1. I see a dubious statement, which is not attributed. I'd like to know the name
of the user who inserted this statement in order to ask him/her to provide a
reference.

2. I'd like to see whether a topic has already been discussed in some talk paged
with many archives.

Further details
===============
The search should be able to look into the meta-data associated with the
revisions: the edit summaries, the user-names and the date.

The Diffindexer (https://github.com/whym/diffindexer) in combination with
Wikihadoop (https://github.com/whym/wikihadoop) offers exactly this
functionality.
