Description Mormegil 2004-11-08 16:36:02 UTC
I was not logged-in to Wikipedia and the "You have new messages" banner
appeared, with the link pointing to User_talk:205.188.116.12 (which is
cache-dtc-aa08.proxy.aol.com BTW). But that IP address is wrong, not even
close -- I reside on the other side of Atlantic (and no, I don't know
about any AOL proxy that I would choose to connect through).

I tried to check using Special:Watchlist and it displayed the correct
IP address in the "for user xx.xx.xx.xx" subheader.

This has already happened to me before (I remember seeing some AOL before, too),
and, according to [[:en:User talk:205.188.116.12]], I am not the only one.
(''"Stupid page, this is a bug. This is not my IP, not even close. How about fixing this?"'')
