Description Omegatron 2006-12-27 22:52:50 UTC
We have this "dynamic dates" feature, which is great. It makes 2006-01-24 look
like January 24, 2006 because of the way I have my preferences set, for
instance. But in order to get it to display like that, you have to link the
date, which is silly. Why link? We aren't linking to the article about the
date. It would be much more logical and usable if linking of dates was distinct
from dynamic formatting of dates. I see two possibilities, in order of preference:

* All dates, linked or otherwise, are automatically detected and dynamically
formatted. Use nowiki tags when needed (like direct quotes).
* Dynamic date formatting only applies when a date has some kind of wikimarkup,
like //January 24, 2006//.
