Description Gerd 2006-12-13 14:07:14 UTC
I work on:
-Fedora Core 6.
-mysql Ver 14.12 Distrib 5.0.27, for redhat-linux-gnu (i686) using readline 5.0

Installation 1.8.2 fails. After successful Installation I will try the Main
Page. I got only a white page.

After that I tried install mediawiki-1.6.8. I executed exactly the same
installation steps and it work without problems.

In Apache Log are error messages:

[Wed Dec 13 14:21:28 2006] [error] [client ::1] PHP Fatal error: Call to a
member function getTalkPage() on a non-object in
/var/www/html/wiki/includes/SkinTemplate.php on line 586

This is a known problem in 1.8.2 I already experienced on another installation.

Try accessing the website from another host (not localhost).

* Did you report the bug?
* Were the conditions the same as those described above?

This is the IPv6 localhost bug; the IPv6 address "::1" isn't a valid page title,
so the IP talk page link blows up.

I believe there's some code in 1.9 to hack around this.
