Description Giovanni De Mizio 2006-10-04 22:14:23 UTC
As reported in http://it.wikinews.org/wiki/Wikinotizie:Bar/Upload_locale? ,
it.wikinews community requests local upload privileges. Local upload is already
on in en.wikinews, de.wikinews and pl.wikinews.

Please, could you update it.wikinews configuration?

Thank you!

Tooby

Support! twice25, it:wiki
Comment 2 Jollyroger 2006-10-05 16:29:50 UTC
I agree. Commons is managed by people who knows nothing of copyright and act in
a dizzy and confused way.

Lately we had lot of problems with some german users that deleted all the
italian images that were PD for a specific comma of the italian copryight law,
just because with German law those images would have been copyrighted... totally
forgetting that as long as they are PD in the origin country, they are PD
everywhere.

Moreover on Commons it's not strange to have files deleted without delinking, or
without any advice; sometimes happens that a template image is deleted and we
have hundreds of broken links all at once.

Commons need a lawyer. And some damn good admins, not the bunch of incompetent
people (with due exceptions, of course, but not enough) that are deciding
important matters right now as you read.

Free it.wikinews!

(note: image used on news sites in italy have a special law, so while they could
not be license free for Commons, they could be legal for news sites. So a local
upload is NEEDED)

Completely support Tooby and it.wikinews request!

Comment 4 Gianluigi Gamba 2006-10-05 18:03:21 UTC
Support. Allowing local updates can increase the richness of it.wikinews content
(obviously within the compliance with Italian laws) by avoiding the current
restrictions of Commons. - it:User:Paginazero

I fully agree with Toooby 87 proposal
Comment 6 Nicolò Zamperini 2006-10-06 00:33:44 UTC
I agree with Tooby proposal
Comment 7 it:DracoRoboter 2006-10-06 01:15:25 UTC
I agree with Tooby proposal (let's close useless commons)
Comment 8 Aryeh Gregor (not reading bugmail, please e-mail directly) 2006-10-06 01:22:55 UTC
If you support this proposal, please a) express your agreement in the on-wiki
discussion linked in the first post here, and/or b) vote for this bug. Please
don't post comments here just to express support; every comment gets sent to
everyone who voted for this bug and everyone who's watching the wikibugs-l
mailing list, plus it gets posted to the IRC chat, etc., etc. Uploads will be
enabled based on perceived on-wiki support, not based on how many people support
*here*. The system administrators generally handle all pending shell requests
in batches every week or two; just be patient.

Strong support!
Comment 10 Lucas 2006-10-06 04:49:34 UTC
I'm sorry for my post, I haven't noticed the last post.
Comment 11 Ivan Vighetto 2006-10-06 10:19:28 UTC
Images used in Wikinews are strictly dependent on single nation situation. Best
managed with per contry basis.

Strong support
Comment 12 maurizio codogno 2006-10-06 15:11:16 UTC
actually, this is not a bug but a (missing) feature :-) I think that many (if
not most) pieces of news have local interest, so putting relevant images on
commons is overkill.
Comment 13 Brion Vibber 2006-10-09 09:32:25 UTC
Set.
