In prefix search redirects shouldn't be ranked as highly as titles. Right now they are and you get weird results like a search for "fish" getting "Fishspinner" as the second result. As cool as that word is, its actually a redirect to tropical cyclone.

Bug 63627 strikes again? Not to be confused with bug 65232.
(In reply to Nemo from comment #3) > Bug 63627 strikes again? Not to be confused with bug 65232. Its its own thing I think. It is a side effect of my (unilateral?) decision to add redirects to prefix search. I chose that to keep prefix search in line with the near match search behavior which redirects. But yeah, its caused a few bugs. I've played a little with these settings locally and I'm pretty happy with the outcome. I'm also surprised this didn't come up before enwiki. Whatever, this is going to prod today.
