Adding structured data (probably based on Wikibase) for all media files on Wikimedia Commons is something the Multimedia team are planning to work on.

(I'm sure the Multimedia team are tracking this in Mingle/whatever; adding into Bugzilla so it can sit alongside related tickets for the Wikidata and VisualEditor teams and whomever else.)

What is this change exactly? Do we need Community consensus?
