Description Invitatious 2006-07-01 17:32:18 UTC
A useful feature to add to watchlists would be notification of changes to
watched pages. This would perform these tasks whenever a page on the watchlist
has changed since the last request of the list:

1. Assign a different CSS class to the watchlist link. This can be used in
conjunction with wiki-wide CSS or user CSS and JavaScript code to apply
different styling when there are new changes.

2. Depending on user preference, display a message similar to the "You have new
messages." message when the user's talk page is changed.

Would be useful so I can watch my non-busy watchlist of ~186 pages while
performing other tasks.

Checking the entire watchlist and scanning the pages on it for changes on each
page view is too expensive.
