Description Keegan Peterzell 2014-02-13 02:52:59 UTC
After a discussion with no objections amongst the OTRS administrators on our mailing list, we would like to have the Translate extension enabled on OTRS wiki to facilitate translating messaging. Thanks!

For such a small wiki, Do you really want it? It does complicate the subpage management workflow for some simple functions.
Comment 2 Keegan Peterzell 2014-02-13 03:22:07 UTC
Yes, it would be useful for providing documentation pages (like Help: space) in other languages for agents.
Comment 3 MZMcBride 2014-02-13 04:15:28 UTC
Eh, I'd rather see OTRS pick up VisualEditor (which is incompatible with the Translate extension...) than the Translate extension. It's a bit of a rough user experience. However the Translate extension _is_ supported on the cluster and if the OTRS admins want it (after consulting with the relevant stakeholders), it's fine to enable there.

This happens to be MediaWiki configuration related to OTRS rather than OTRS configuration related to Wikimedia, so this goes into "Site requests" with the "shell" keyword.

You would have to do without a translation memory if the content is private.

Who? The OTRS admins, the admins on OTRS wiki, the end users on OTRS wiki?

From what i've heard the end users (aka the otrs agents that use the wiki) haven't even been really asked for consensus…

Merged & deployed by Reedy; the extension is now available on the wiki (and working).
Comment 9 Keegan Peterzell 2014-02-14 09:08:54 UTC
Thanks for the patch, Tomasz, thanks for the commit, Reedy, thanks for the comments, all. This should a very small but useful tool in agent onboarding. :)

{{autotranslate}} dos not work. The template seems okay. (problems with {{int:*}} ?).

Can someone pleas take a look?

They actually do work, I just overlooked something and told Steinsplitter that they don't seem to work...
Comment 13 Nemo 2014-02-26 10:16:42 UTC
Just to make it clear, {{autotranslate}} ({{int:Lang}}), LangSelect (+ {{mld}}), LanguageSelection, LangSwitch have nothing to do with the Translate extension.
