I had only seen this occur on the one page on Wikipedia. The image link on this
page was rendered as a red link (apparently a bad image URL) prior to the update
at  06:47, 27 May 2006. It looked OK on May 21 when the image link was added to
this page. Reloading the page and refreshing the cache did not provide any
relief. Actually, I did an edit and preview without any changes and the image
also linked correctly. Unfortunately, I appear to have made it go away by making
a minor change to the page and resaving it; the older version viewed from the
history does not exhibit the problem.

This seems to be an intermittent problem and the circumstances that trigger the
problem appear to be outside of my control.

This was due to a temporary bug, Use ?action=purge to clear 
affected pages or edit them.
