We have a global javascript variable skin to say which skin we're using, which
is a nice feature. Could we add other configuration variables to this? 

In particular, I'd like javascript variables containing the values of
$wgScriptPath and $wgArticlePath to be added. This way, I can write portable
scripts which synthesize and recognize wikilinks, and they should work on any
mediawiki installation.
