When I upload a vectorized version of a file I now have to choose a new file name, although the old file name ends with .png and the new file with .svg. This should not be a problem, and I don't think it used to be a problem.

This is a dupe, but don't have the bug number off hand. The work around is to use [[commons:special:upload]] instead of upload wizard.
