Weird spaces in characters

I realised that interwiki links and links for changing a language on Wikipedias are with different font than other (Autonym, sans-serif). Why is this used? The links look like too sharp, not smooth.

Latest Opera and Chrome on Windows 7. Firefox is ok. I seen this same problem on many computers with this software. So it's not individual problem.

Thanks for the report. Why Autonym Font? See: https://blog.wikimedia.org/2013/10/28/the-autonym-font-for-language-names/ for reasoning. I'm trying to reproduce the issue and update here.
