Some people have been complaining about the poor quality of the MediaWiki internal 
search on Wikipedia, and say they prefer to use Google. It would be handy if there 
were a user preference that allows people to choose between using Google, Yahoo or 
the internal wiki search when they use the search box at the left.

There is an alternate interface that appears periodically when the MISER
(MediaWiki Internal Search Engine Routine) is out to lunch; it allows users to
issue queries for articles within Wikipedia via search engines from Google and
Yahoo. Could this be made available as an option for users who prefer the
'Yahoogle' interface? I would like to have this as a default.

Searching has been fixed up somewhat since this was filed. I don't see a huge
point in adding another user preference when all you have to do is actually
visit the search engine you'd like to use, and...use it.
