There's various bugs open for different implementations of sharing protocols, such as:

* Twitter Cards
  https://dev.twitter.com/docs/cards
* Facebook Open Graph
  https://developers.facebook.com/docs/opengraph/
* Google+ structured data
* Open Graph
  http://ogp.me/

There are also various issues with either implementations of those, or general problems to solve in this area.

http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:OpenGraphMeta does some stuff. So does http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:WikiSEO and other extensions. I improved tweaked the latter a bit as a temporary solution https://github.com/andru/wiki-seo/pull/6 but I am by no means a php coder (just did some copy and paste).

None of these is a complete solution for all the meta tags.

It would also be useful to have og:locale and og:locale:alternate tags
