Description MZMcBride 2013-08-16 15:04:32 UTC
This bug tracks obsolete or otherwise unneeded database tables on Wikimedia wikis that should be dropped.
Comment 1 Nemo 2013-08-16 21:48:34 UTC
Can we agree that these are all "enhancements"?

(Note that we rarely drop tables, IIRC, and this often proves useful (see e.g. when we revived the LQT testing labs wiki); so the bugs MZ filed are for selected cases, if I understando correctly.)

povwatch_*, hashs and links are empty, while *_old and *_broken contain data so old that I don't know who might need it and what for. The only possible useful table is optin_survey.

Okay.

Dropping databases is different from dropping tables. We obviously haven't dropped tables previously because a number of broken, outdated, or otherwise unneeded tables have accumulated. :-) It's time to clean up. I'm focused solely on cases where the database tables are no longer used or needed.

Yes, this is true for enwiki (and possibly other databases). povwatch_* tables on testwiki contain a small amount of data, but given that it's a test wiki and that the extension is no longer installed... nobody should care.
