Curious what folks think about enabling Extension:GettingStarted, and the required Extension:GuidedTour, on Wikimania 2014's wiki. The idea being they could be used to help with explaining how to create submission pages, what that particular wiki is for, supporting submissions, volunteering, etc. -greg aka varnent Wikimaniac type
Steven, what's your opinion on doing this? Is it feasible/sensible/whatever?
GettingStarted is currently targeted towards tasks that can be pulled from a backlog category (e.g. copyediting, adding links, clarifying where the articles have been tagged for that). So I'm not sure if that would be useful on the Wikimania sites. GuidedTour could certainly be enabled, though.

You don't even need to have any tours ready to install it, and we can build some tours to go along with Wikimania wikis if we want. GettingStarted probably isn't appropriate for the reason Matt said. It'd probably be easier just to hack together a custom landing page for Wikimania wikis with options like "Submit a talk" "Attend" etc.

Too late for this year at this point.
