Description Chris McKenna 2013-08-02 09:23:28 UTC
en.wp editor GermanJoe suggests that if you try to add a template not in the transclusion editor's list of known templates that it should give a warning or "are you sure?" message.

Such a message would note that very new templates might not appear in he list.

This feels like it could be a bit irritating as a modal alert, but maybe we could come up with something as effective whilst less in-your-face.

Unknown template = template with no TemplateData?
Comment 3 Alex Monk 2014-10-23 20:48:02 UTC
Non-existent?

It means "the API didn't claim to know about it existing". Given MediaWiki's… awkwardness about knowing whether or not a page actually exists I didn't want to assume something when I wrote it. :-)
