Description Jonathan Haas 2013-07-28 07:00:40 UTC
In view mode, links to not existing aricles are colored red, also I have some helpers activated which display links to redirections as green and links to disambiguation pages as orange.

All these features do not work in visual editor mode, but would be much more helpful there than in view mode.

Please add link coloring to VE or alternatively add a preview mode which works likepreviously and shows link coloring.

Dupe of bug 37901?
Comment 2 Jonathan Haas 2013-07-28 07:15:39 UTC
My request is simply to show the links as they look in view mode. For example if I see an orange disambiguation link in view mode, I want to be able to quickly find it again in VE to correct it. But if all links are colored blue it's very difficult to find it again.

I'll let somebody else decide if this is a dupe, I'm not sure.

The gadgets need to be updated to support VE, not the other way around.

As for the redlink issue, that is indeed bug 37901.

I'll leave this bug for the VE team to close, but I think it is a WONTFIX.

Jonathan, are you referring to the gadget
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Helferlein/Begriffskl%C3%A4rungs-Check
Or do you have another script?

Also, there is a real bug here, other than redlinks and other core colouring.
Im marking it as NEW as it is a different problem. It is possible that fixing the color of redlinks will fix the other colouring scripts in the wild, in which case close this as a dup.

Whatever customisation hook was used previously in read mode needs to be available in VE mode. There are people with colour blindness for specific colours, and a VE must be customisable, if only with a gadget/user css. German Wikipedia has a gadget for red-green colour blindness:

As a lot of people in dewiki, I'm using the script you posted together with some custom CSS to hide the (ugly) BKL generated by the script and change the link coloring. Also, I have some CSS to colorize .mw_redirect links, which are generated by Mediawiki, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Visualizing_redirects
Comment 6 Jonathan Haas 2013-07-29 10:03:17 UTC
I think the most important thing to be done is adding the correct CSS classes for links to non-existing pages (.new), redirect pages (.mw-redirect) and maybe others in VE.

The gadget for disambiguation pages possibly needs to be adjusted, but maybe disambiguation pages could be handled by Mediawiki/VE itself (you probably want to prevent people from linking them for example), so the gadget can be made obsolete?

Yes, this is just a plain dupe of bug 37901; merging.
