When an edit filter is tripped by an article, any warning text isn't displayed and the user has no clue as to what to fix. Take edit 554 for example, which prevents editors from linking to music charts from blogspot or other known garbage charts. When it trips, the edit filter blocks the edit and issues the warning at http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=MediaWiki:abusefilter-top100 The editor knows exactly what the problem is with his edit. If he makes the same change using the Visual Editor, the error message he receives is "The notification you attempted to make was aborted by an extension hook". I seriously doubt the novice editors this feature is intended for will have any idea what to do to correct their edit. A screenshot showing what happens upon saving an article consisting solely of the phrase "charly1300.com" is at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Filterviolation.PNG
Yes, this is an important thing for us to fix soon; merging with bug 50472 which is also about this. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 50472 ***
