Description Connel MacKenzie 2006-02-22 18:22:18 UTC
Hello,

Currently, the XML output for an individual page gives a direct output of the
text for an entry plus meta data about the entry in separate tags. This is good.

Would it be possible to have a second export page, or a check box or something,
to allow for transclusion of templates during export?

Also, instead of just <text>, could there be a dynamic XML breakdown of the
hierarchical arrangement of ==headings== within that text? Again, this would
likely need to be a separate special page.

Also, (should these be separate requests?) could another XML dump type be added
to output "current_pages" also as "current_pretty_pages" with the above
enhancements?

These enhancements (I think) would make the exports even more useful than they
already are.

What is "current_pages" or "current_pretty_pages"? This term means nothing to me.
Comment 2 Melancholie 2006-02-25 13:22:07 UTC
I think "pages_current.xml" at http://download.wikimedia.org/wiktionary/en/ is
meant. The "pretty" version then would contain the proposed enhancements
(transcluded templates, etc.).

Changing summary to reflect one issue; have split the other into bug 5179.

Mass compoment change: <some> -> Export/Import
Comment 5 Brion Vibber 2009-03-27 20:44:07 UTC
I believe this can be done with the API, but not currently via Special:Export afaik.
