Now it's impossible to use html tags inside Display label - the Page Schemas parser just eats them out. With this feature it will be possible to style displayed labels with css-classes or images as this example shows:

Are bug 50656 and/or bug 50495 duplicates of this one?

No - those are for a different extension (TemplateData vs. Page Schemas).
