Description Andrew Gray 2013-04-30 14:55:13 UTC
Per request at the enwiki village pump:

http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Village_pump_%28technical%29&oldid=552890515#Can_.22.C3.97.22_be_made_interchangeable_with_.22x.22_for_searching.3F

Due to a large number of articles using the × character in plant names, is it possible for the search to treat "×" as "x"? (I am not clear on which unicode sign this is - presumably U+00D7 or U+2A2F)

This is a similar request to bug:39501 (requesting the same functionality for apostrophe symbols)
Comment 1 Lupo 2013-05-01 20:29:11 UTC
Treating dashes and n-dashes alike would also be nice.

Please file a separate request about that. This one is about "×" and "x".
