I think this request is easy too, in the same way than the 4599. Someone have
saw this bug ? Someone here ?
Comment 3 Brion Vibber 2006-01-14 21:55:27 UTC
Not sure this is necessary...?
Comment 4 Yug 2006-01-15 00:42:49 UTC
Some french wikipedians think it's really important, and when we have a pic with
a translucide background, they want an other copy with a green background, or an
other color. I think make a copy is not efficient.

Made this colorimetric function will not be really really useful, but that will
be use in Art, where a colored background in the pics is an academic standart/norm.

In those special cases, why can't you simply use the existing method of wrapping
it in a table with a specific background colour?
Comment 6 lɛʁi לערי ריינהארט 2006-01-16 21:04:58 UTC

example with a image that *is* transparent

example with a image that is *not* transparent

The second does not look nice.

If bug 4600 is a workaround for
Bug 691: white border around floating image
then bug 691 could be added to "blocks" at dependencies.

The way of a table is really not convenient for newbies. I'm able to make it,
but every body is not, and I think this improvement is usefull enough to be add
to mediawiki .

Editors shouldn't be imposing such things on the reader; certain colours make
things less readable for various groups of people, and I'm not a fan of
hampering usability or encouraging editors to make display choices when creating

If necessary, I would recommend using CSS to do it. It might be helpful to
couple this with bug 8298 to make it easier to indicate such images.
