Description Jean-Fred 2012-12-25 15:18:05 UTC
The UploadWizard Flickr should format source and author output using templates {{Flickr source}} [1] and {{Flickr author}} [2] (just like the Flickr Upload Bot does).

(This notably gives a short and clear source, and hyperlinks the author).

For example file [3], output syntax should be:
|Source		= {{subst:Flickr source|url=http://flickr.com/photos/21057977@N03/6819570781|title=Cheesecake au caramel au beurre salé et spéculoos}}
|Author		= {{subst:Flickr author|nsid=21057977@N03|name=Jean-Frédéric|subst=subst:}}

I have to agree, having properly international template names is a good idea.

Siebrand is CC'd here, so he can maybe shed light on how to do this right. [by MarkTraceur]

I think {{Information}} template name is hardcoded into UploadWizard, isn’t it?
Comment 5 Derk-Jan Hartman 2013-05-20 09:54:29 UTC
Anyone got bright ideas on how to tackle the issue that these flickr templates are supposed to be subst: ? Because that doesn't really make sense from MediaWiki messages, which really is the preferred way in which I would see these messages handled.
Comment 6 Derk-Jan Hartman 2013-05-20 10:37:03 UTC
I've just been made aware that {{flickr author}} is not used by the community and SHOULD not be used... sigh.

I think this is an abuse of messages, templates are project specific and their handling shouldn't be done this way.

Is that so? AFAIK {{flickr author}} is used by Bryan transfer tool, which is highly popular. (If so, we should mark it as deprecated)

Just like the {{information}} which is hardcoded into UploadWizard? ;-þ

Is there any way to format stuff with template-formatted without using templates? And how to leave some configuration on-wiki without relying on templates?
Comment 10 Derk-Jan Hartman 2013-05-20 12:45:14 UTC
Correction, it seems we were thrown of course by the fact that the template has recently been changed to make use of an interwiki link instead of an external link, which caused a mismatch between test environment and community expectations.

It should be just fine after all.

Nischay: This issue has been assigned to you a while ago.
Could you please provide a status update and inform us whether you are still working (or still plan to work) on this issue?
Only in case you do not plan to work on this issue anymore, should the assignee be set back to default and the bug status changed from ASSIGNED to NEW/UNCONFIRMED? Thanks.
Comment 12 Andre Klapper 2014-11-20 15:18:32 UTC
Nischay Nahata: I am resetting the assignee of this issue to default because there has been no signs of progress for the last months. Feel free to assign it to yourself again when you plan to work on this. Thanks for your understanding.
