When uploading a Flickr set, it might be useful to have a 'Select all' button, rather than forcing the user to manually select them all.

Yes, 200% agree with this. Once we move beyond the 50 image limit, this will make the process even more streamlined.

Even after we are able to show the user about a 1000 images we only plan on letting them upload about 50 so how can "Select all" be a reality?

I think we can have a 'Select all' only if the number of images is lesser than the max limit, but then showing it only sometimes may cause confusion. So this looks like a WONTFIX to me.
