Right now subtitles are white text on a grey, semi-transparent background. In my opinion there are two problems with that: * The gray rectangles obscure too much of the frame and look ugly. * The text can be hard to read, especially in black-and-white videos where the rest of the frame is also white and gray, offering little visual contrast to the subtitle area. Hyperlinks in subtitles, which are blue at the moment, are also difficult to read on a dark background. I would suggest to use a CSS text shadow (black) around white or yellow characters instead. I would also recommend to find a brighter color for links that stands out more on a dark background. Perhaps simply a brighter shade of blue. Maybe the subtitle color should be customizable from the video player widget, because some people might prefer yellow text for readibility, while others would want less obtrusive white text.
