Description Lupin 2005-12-01 17:00:00 UTC
I'd like to be able to combat repeated vandalism of particular pages by AOL
vandals and the like by protecting a page for a short period of time only.
Currently I have to remember to unprotect the page, and I find myself unwilling
to unprotect pages that other admins have protected for fear of stepping on
peoples' toes.

One solution would be to allow admins to protect pages for a specified time
period, just as we can block users for a specified time period. I'd like to
request such a feature.

With the recent incident with Wikipedia and The Colbert Report, I am concerned
about the number of pages being semi-protected because of this incident. People
may forget to unprotect certain pages, and those pages may be forgotten and
never put up for unprotection, which may turn off anons and newbies. This is a
really important feature that should be implemented soon.

I've added a field for future use by this feature in r19095.
