Description James Forrester 2012-06-27 20:59:01 UTC
From user request. There are other keybinding feature requests; possibly worth documenting all the ones we respect?

This is one of those things that should be left to the browser as much as possible.

If it is implemented inside the VE, there will be no end to surprises. Different browsers have subtle differences in the behavior of this feature, and users who use it often and are accustomed to the behavior in their favorite browser won't like the VE implementation, whatever it will be. There are also numerous surprises in the i18n side - the different direction of movement in RTL environments, word-boundary algorithms in Thai, and many, many more.

See https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/VisualEditor/Internationalization_requirements .

This is fixed now. The cursor moves natively unless some conditions are met (inside a slug or moving farther than 1 offset).
