Description Dereckson 2012-06-26 07:54:56 UTC
+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #37929 - Migrating /trunk/tools/planet form subversion to git +++

In bug #37929 comment #1, Chad indicates he would like to change the Planet software, to have an administrative interface:

> (...) Really we should find some [most functional] planet software that lets us add new blogs without requiring config changes.

In bug #37929 comment #3, I indicated we could keep the software and add a control panel or a script to regenerate the config:
> It only requires to add a component to edit the config file.
>
> - whether an administrative panel for Planet
> - whether a script regenerating the config file from a MediaWiki page.

The present bug has two goals:
(i) discuss the merits of new software/add config panel/add config script
(ii) implement the chosen solution

I believe it is desired (from what i've heard) to move to new software which is actually maintained (and if it has a admin interface, that is bonus).

stepping out of this bug I have already too much to handle.
Comment 3 Dereckson 2012-06-26 11:52:25 UTC
As a midterm solution the time such software with a nice interface exist, wouldn't it make sense to pull configuration from meta. pages?

If so, I'm willing to prepare the relevant script.

I really see no point, Editing the files is pretty painless in the Git world, And its not that hard to get developer access these days.
