Okki, a Wikimedia Commons contributor and sysop, noticed we're the only media site not to have implemented a lightbox view. It gives YouTube, Flickr, Dailymotion as samples. would like we add on Wikimedia Commons What a lightbox Interface could be like? https://secure.flickr.com/photos/yorkie/2907493972/lightbox/ Key characteristics: - image centered on a gray backround, to allow a good contrast viewing the picture - keyboard navigation, to browse quickly pictures
This sounds like something that should probably go into an extension
created a labs project for this as requested on labs mailing list
--> "commons-dev" project on labsconsole.wikimedia.org
See [[:mw:Extension:GeeQuBox]] and related ("See also" section)
The Commons community deployed [[Help:Gadget-GallerySlideshow]]. Note this gadget doesn't solve this bug, as the UI usability and quality is very poor.
I think [[mw:Extension:MultimediaViewer]] has every feature listed above, and thus we could close this bug. Any objections?
Ricordisamoa: Thanks for the ping! No objections, hence assuming that [[mw:Extension:MultimediaViewer]] can cover this. If not, please file specific requests against MultimediaViewer in Bugzilla: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=MediaWiki%20extensions&component=MultimediaViewer
