Looking at <https://test.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thesaurus?uselang=test> where the LastModified extension has recently been enabled, the little icons used on wikis such as the English Wikipedia overlap with the extension's output. I'll attach a screenshot momentarily. Ideally this extension's output would be above the article tabs (where there's plenty of room). Putting this text on the same line as the article title risks hitting the little icons or, with long page titles, hitting the page title. This is bad.

Well that sucks. I guess we should see if the designers have any ideas. I don't really like the idea of having it outside the content area since it then looses the visual association with the content, but I'm not sure where else would be better.
FWIW, the original implementation had the message in the upper-right hand corner of the content div, but this doesn't work very well with CentralNotice. Perhaps if it were in very small print and flush against the top...
I bugged the E3 people about this and it looks like we're going to try replacing the 'From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia' message with the last modified message.

I suppose someone considered beneath or next to that line? I think one of the (popular) assessment gadgets inserts text in that area. Hmm.

It's <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Pyrospirit/metadata>. According to <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Database_reports/User_preferences#Gadgets>, it's used by about 13,000 people.

Sounds like we need to go back to the drawing board on placement. We'll talk about it on Monday when everyone is back in the office, but in the meantime, I'll document our options on the requirements page on MediaWiki.org. That's probably easier for everyone than Bugzilla. MZ, Kaldari: thank you for your help on this!
Patch submitted: https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/10183/ Thanks guys.
Fixed by Ori: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:MW-LastUpdate-Timestamp-Proposed.png Now it detects where the icons are and positions itself accordingly.
