Self redirects should be prevented. A self redirect is when a page redirects to itself. Example: Page [[Foo]] containing the text #REDIRECT [[Foo]] This is often the result of typos.
Only for information, you can found them in [[Special:DoubleRedirects]].
Yes I know, that is the problem. They fill up Double Redirects when they aren't redirecting to anything. They can be avoided entirely.
