Description Srikanth Logic 2012-02-16 09:22:23 UTC
When English interface is chosen (See URL), can the equivalent namespaces (if they exist) be shown in the dropdown?
Comment 1 Niklas Laxström 2012-02-16 09:53:14 UTC
There is no such things as translated namespaces.
Comment 2 Srikanth Logic 2012-02-16 09:59:21 UTC
I meant mapping them to their Canonical equivalents and using the English(Interface lang's equvivalent). Just like how "Mediawiki:" pages automatically redirect to their language equivalents (मिडियाविकी:) this case.
Comment 3 Niklas Laxström 2012-02-16 10:00:45 UTC
The redirection is one way only. It just happens to be the case that all the core namespaces have an English alias (but the custom namespaces don't have even that).
Comment 4 Srikanth Logic 2012-02-16 10:07:57 UTC
When I use the en interface on the namespace dropdown, I get "all, (Main)" in English and rest of the core namespaces in language of wiki. Since the core namespaces have an English alias, can they be used in en interface instead of showing core namespaces in ? Custom namespaces can still comes in language of wiki.

See also bug 10342.
Comment 6 Tim Weyer 2012-04-14 19:31:50 UTC
Yeah, it's confusing if you don't know what namespace you have to select to get the result you are seeking for.
