I believe, this is a feature, not a bug, but I cannot find a description of this
behaviour.

I started a Category called "Mitarbeiter" and put the tag
"[[category:Mitarbeiter]]" into the related topics. 

There is a "Mitarbeiter" called "Michael" and another called "Manuela". The
relating text has got the category-tag "Mitarbeiter". 

When I then open the site .../category:Mitarbeiter I get Manuela listed under
"M" and Michael listed under "M .cont".

Could you please explain how this happens and what the difference is in both cases?

That's the second column, marked as still being under the letter M.
