Description Phil Chang 2011-12-23 23:03:17 UTC
Some Android apps put focus on a search field by highlighting some auto-text in the search field, which is replaced as soon as you start typing (because the text is selected). The search field also has a focus ring, and with the text highlight it is very obvious the field has focus. The cursor appears after you start typing. For us, the auto-text could say, "Start typing..." or "Enter search term..." or whatever.

This is a possible fix for the focus problem with the search field.

This entire thing would go away if we decide to drop position:fixed.
