I can place the caret by tapping, but the on-screen keyboard doesn't engage so I can't type anything.

Tested in iPad (first-gen) running iOS 5.0.1.

Hmm, I somehow managed to get the keyboard to open, and find that each word typed ends up starting out capitalized, and some letters don't come through if typing moderately fast.

Showing and hiding of the side side-by-side views seems to help.

Fixed in new version of VE through using native implementation.

Mass-moving old VisualEditor tickets to the VE product. Search for this message to mass-delete bugmail.
