BUG MIGRATED FROM SOURCEFORGE http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=922210&group_id=34373&atid=411192 Originally submitted by Daniel Keshet (dkesh) 2004-03-24 06:18 Trivial error, but important for widespread mediawiki adoption mediawiki messages like those currently at fromwikipedia and aboutwikipedia should have site-neutral names like "tagline" and "about_site". This is especially true for "fromwikipedia" as I hoped to use that name for a custom message: ''This article was originally a wikipedia article'', but it's true for both: editors of my site shouldn't be confused about whether they're editing at wikipedia or my site. ------------------------- Additional comments ------------------------ Date: 2004-06-22 14:17 Sender: SF user imsop lt was pointed out on the mailing list (http://mail.wikimedia.org/pipermail/mediawiki-l/2004-June/000572 .html) that everywhere we use the string "Wikipedia" we are reinforcing the incorrect idea that this is a generic term, rather than a trademark specific to wikipedia.org - possibly making this bug a little more important.
I have changed all occurrences of "fromwikipedia" to "tagline", and all occurrences of "aboutwikipedia" to "aboutsite". If there are any others, please reopen this bug and let me know.
