This may cause outdated images to be used. Same goes for image links to the /w/extension directory.
Probably there just shouldn't be a /skins/ dir on bits at all...
That would be an entirly different discussion. Can we for now just fix the rerwite?
To clarify; removing the /skins directory would instantly break dozens, if not hundreds of extensions and gadgets on a global scale. The directory sturcture for core images on bits currently mirrors that of all the projects, and should continue to do so.
