Description とある白い猫 2011-09-02 01:44:22 UTC
Just like how new pages (N) and minor edits (m) are maked, perhaps admin reverts should also be marked.

It is difficult to tell which reverts are by administrator revert, which ones are by tools (unless tool has a marking), and which ones are fake reverts with fake edit summaries particularly when data mining the data dumps. This would significantly improve research results as it would take less time to data mine and more time to process the results.

In addition a server-side script could perhaps be run once to mark reverts in the past making the flag a standard in the data dumps.

By 'admin revert' you mean anyone who uses the 'rollback' function. This is not limited to admins, many vandal fighters have this (so called 'rollbackers' and/or 'patrollers'). Repharsing bug title to reflect this.

What do you mean by marking this as a 'revert'. Is there an existing way to mark reverts, that you wish rollbacks ('admin reverts') also use ? Or are you requesting the creation of such mark in general ?

Note that corrently rollbacks can be identified in two ways:
* Edit summary (which cannot be altered by humans, and is constructed by [[MediaWiki:Revertpage]]
** Down side: This 'constant' is editable by local wikis and is localized. So it's different per wiki, but within a wiki it should rarely change.

* Database: It has the same rev_text_id as a previous revision.
