Description AleXXw 2011-07-28 20:05:13 UTC
Hi there, i'd like to start a new mailinglist to boost communication for contibuters at Austrians monument projekt. At all there are around 100 people, some of them are at federal monuments office and not on wikimedia projects.

* name: Wiki-Denkmal-AT
* initial list administrator's e-mail address: alexxw83@gmail.com

Thanks!

Is this a local wikiproject, something related to Wikis Love Monuments, or something else?
Comment 2 AleXXw 2011-07-29 23:16:04 UTC
A composition of local wikiprojekt and WLM. It started with WLM but now its an collaboration between austrian wikipedians and the austrian "Bundesdenkmalamt" (~federal monuments office) planned for several years. Most of the people of Bundesdenkmalamt are not signed to wikipedia so a mailinglist would be great!

Hmm, I see. Well, here's the situation: local WikiProjects do not get mailing lists (we have a few hundred wikis and a lot of them have quite a few WikiProjects... we couldn't give one to every project and most wouldn't even use it), but large outreach partnerships/projects, especially ones that are chapter-sponsored, usually do get a Wikimedia mailing list.

Do you fit into the second category, the "chapter-sponsored outreach projects/partnerships"? If so, I'll create the list for you, probably something like "WikiDenkmal-AT" or "Monuments-AT" or just "Denkmal-AT" -- let me know which you like best. If you don't fit into that category, a Google Group would probably be better.

Does that make sense? :-) Sorry for the confusing process.

I think we fit the second category, our chapter is involved in many cases and our partnership includes several common projects with high scatter effect... I would prefer "Denkmal-AT". And: no problem, rules are rules ;)

Yes, the second category fits our goals. Denkmal-AT would be really fine

Make mailing list requests (new ML or rename) consistent: based on bug 30105 it looks like caseybrown wants these, add wikibugs to CC

Sorry for the delay, I haven't had access to a computer.

List "Denkmal-AT" created and password sent to AleXXw.
