Please enable Extension:OnlineStatus on Hindi Wikipedia. The local consensus is here:

Hindi Wikipedia community has no problem with this, so why other users have
which are not effected with this.

Again, see http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Writing_an_extension_for_deployment for what needs to happen to get this deployed.

Given that this is set to run on Foundation servers, performance issues are very important -- other users outside the Hindi Wikipedia users *would* be affected by any performance issues.
