Please enable Extension:WikiForum on Hindi Wikipedia. The local consensus is here:

Would need a security review, also LQT would be better.
Comment 2 Mayur 2011-07-12 12:37:25 UTC
As LQT is on a halt as per Wikimedia foundation, this extension can solve that purpose
Comment 3 Chad H. 2011-07-12 14:44:59 UTC
LQT may be on halt, but not indefinitely. It's just my opinion, but I don't think reviewing and deploying a new extension in the meantime is a great idea.

As the developer of WikiForum ([[mw:Extension:WikiForum]], which is a fork of the original WikiForum, with some security patches and such tweaks), I beg to disagree with the comment "LQT would be better", although I admit that I'm not a hardcore user of LQT.

Extension wars aside, while it would be fun to see WikiForum deployed on a Wikimedia site and I'd absolutely love if someone could review it and fix the obvious and non-obvious flaws...I just don't think that's gonna happen anytime soon. WikiForum has bugs, quirks and other things (such as the crappy pagination code, for example) that I believe should be fixed before one could even consider the idea of deploying WF on the Wikimedia cluster.

So, yes, it can be done, but it requires a lot of time and a lot of work. Is it worth it? I don't know, that's up to someone else to decide. All I know is that I currently don't have the time to bugfix WikiForum.
Comment 5 Brion Vibber 2011-07-12 18:58:13 UTC
Wikimedia expects to clean up and/or rewrite LQT with the specific features we need for integrating stuff; WikiForum as it currently exists won't get deployed for any individual sites.

Jack -- thanks for the excellent feedback there! Paging issues are actually potential deal-breakers for Wikimedia usage (threads can get really, *really* long over the years!) and that's the sort of thing that needs to be explicitly looked at.
