I believe that the registration form should be an own special page rather than a subpage of Special:UserLogin?type=signup for easier access to the page. One could for example type it into the search (useful for account creators) and wikilinks can be made to it. Of course, the old variant should fallback to the new special page.

You can already make wikilinks to [[Special:UserLogin/signup]].
