Description Philippe Beaudette 2011-07-02 00:04:22 UTC
Please close the "Strategyapps" wiki. If possible, a database copy should be retained (probably with me) for historical purposes, but the wiki doesn't need to take up space on the cluster anymore. :)

Let's shut it down and not take a chance on personal information compromise.
Comment 1 Casey Brown 2011-07-02 00:12:42 UTC
How this would be done, hopefully it makes the sysadmin's life easier:
We normally close a wiki by adding it to closed.dblist... but if we want to keep the database around but don't want people to have access to it anymore, I think we just remove it from all.dblist?

[[wikitech:Delete a wiki]] seems to agree with that, but adds a few more steps. I don't think it's necessary for us to clean up the CentralAuth database since this is a private wiki.
Comment 2 Chad H. 2011-07-05 13:29:47 UTC
Just adding it to closed.dblist should be sufficient. I highly highly doubt it takes up any actual amount of space, all things considered. Since closing it is easier than actually removing it, I'll do that in a few hours when I get back home :)

Philippe: If you still want a copy of the DB, I can get you that too.
Comment 3 Ariel T. Glenn 2011-07-06 14:22:26 UTC
A fresh dump is stashed on tridge:/data/other/strategyappwiki/20110706 (probably need two copies of it, one copy != backup).

If you want copies I can give you all but 5 of the tables, lemme know.
Comment 4 Sam Reed (reedy) 2011-07-08 00:32:16 UTC
Is this done Chad? As I see it is in closed.dblist....
Comment 5 Ariel T. Glenn 2011-07-08 05:32:26 UTC
Philippe has a copy of the tables that would be available to users if this were a public wiki. I don't know what else needs to happen beyond that.
Comment 6 Chad H. 2011-07-08 05:36:57 UTC
Philippe and I spoke about this and he wants it actually shut down (not just in closed.dblist). Wikitech doesn't seem to outline what needs doing here (dropping the DNS entry comes to mind)
Comment 7 Sam Reed (reedy) 2011-08-18 19:15:50 UTC
RT #1317 has been created for this
Comment 8 JeLuF 2011-08-22 20:28:07 UTC
There's a procedure at http://wikitech.wikimedia.org/view/Delete_a_wiki
Can we use it?
Comment 9 Chad H. 2011-08-23 00:18:30 UTC
Sounds like it. Main thing to remember is the CentralAuth cleanup (iirc: that causes major bugs if you remove it from all.dblist when CA still expects the wiki to exist)
Comment 10 Sam Reed (reedy) 2011-09-05 19:38:17 UTC
Closed per RobH on RT
