As requested at <http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?diff=433741817&oldid=433739569>, it would be nice if http://m.en.wikipedia.org (and variants) redirected to their respective http://en.m.wikipedia.org pages.

this seems pointless and possibly more confusing to end users...

How would this be more confusing? AFAI can tell, most of the mobile web prefixes their URLs with "m". I was confused as an end user when I got my first smartphone and couldn't get to wikipedia using m.en.wikipedia.org.
