Hi, I'm an admin in the Tamil wikipedia. Even though the mediawiki messages corresponding to namespaces like "Template" etc are translated, {{foo}} points only to Template:Foo and not the Tamil equivalent. Also, the drop down list showing namespaces shows the problematic ones in English itself. LanguageTa.php in MediaWiki 1.5, 1.4 and 1.3 is missing these namespace translations: Template, Template_talk, Help, Help_talk, Category, Category_talk. This affects all Tamil language MediaWiki sites. Can someone supply the six missing namespace translations?

Sundar, please check the translations in these patches as I lack a compatible font and any knowledge of Tamil. The patches also: * use the namespace symbolic names instead of numbers * use $wgMetaNamespace/$wgSitename for the PROJECT namespace * add a missing auto-documentation header for the REL1_4 version
I'm sorry. But, it still seems to have not taken effect. :-( The dropdown at http://ta.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E0% AE%9A%E0%AE%BF%E0%AE%B1%E0%AE%AA%E0%AF%8D%E0%AE%AA%E0%AF%81:Allpages shows the English version only. Sundar

The changes are not live yet. Please download and check the two patches attached to this bug report, in case I have broken the translations. They are in UTF-8 format.

Hi, I notice that the requested changes have gone live and hence the templates appear in Tamil. However, the change has turned two other namespaces from Tamil to English. They're Wikipedia and Wikipedia talk. Is this by design? If this can be changed, please make the changes as follows. Wikipedia - விக்கிபீடியா Wikipedia talk - விக்கிபீடியா பேச்சு Thanks, Sundar
Also, the "Image talk" namespace should read as "படிமப் பேச்சு" Please correct it along with the above. Please note that the translation for "Image" namespace is correct, only the talk page has a different translation. Thanks, Sundar

There is consensus in our wiki that "Wikipedia" should be "விக்கிப்பீடியா" and "Wikipedia talk" should be "விக்கிப்பீடியா பேச்சு". Please make the changes and also run a find and replace to fix any broken links. Thanks, Sundar

It appears that the Tamil localisation is almost unmaintained in MediaWiki. Please create a user at Betawiki (http://translatewiki.net) and work on the issues above and beyond. Bring a few friends ;) Also: new issues should not be taken up in a re-opened bug. A new bug should be created for it.
