Currently I can customise wiki project using {{GENDER:}} only in MediaWiki: messages, but in the same way I can't do it for example on Help: pages. MediaWiki messages provide variables like $1 with username, example: {{gender:$1|male form|female form}}. In the same way I would like customise Help: pages, but now it is not possible. If it is possible please: * extend the functionality of {{GENDER:}} - if I leave empty username, show proper gender form for currently loged in user, example: {{gender:|male form|female form}}, or * create new magic word like {{MYUSERNAME}}, example: {{gender:{{MYUSERNAME}}|male form|female form}}.
It was specifically designed to work in a way that avoids cache fragmentation. It would be relatively easy to change the behavior, if this feature was seen more important that preventing cache fragmentation.

This bug asks for 'current user' detection (ie. the user who is actually viewing the page); while in bug 30569 I request default detection of 'page owner's username' (the user whose personal page includes the function). The {{MYUSERNAME}} magic word you've requested is usually known as {{CURRENTUSER}}, and is already requested and discused in bug 4196 and many other duplicates.
